General Knowledge: Why 255?
In digital systems, colors are usually stored in "8-bit" format. In the world of binary (the language of computers), 8 bits of data can represent 256 different values. Since we start counting at 0, the highest possible value for any single color channel is 255. When you set all three (R, G, and B) to 255, you are telling your screen to shine its lights at full strength, resulting in pure white!
